Pajero rolls into Chennai

Hindustan Motors Limited, an arm of the C.K Birla Group launched
the much awaited Pajero GLX in Chennai on Tuesday .The Sports
Utility Vehicle (SUV) has been the toast of 2 million customers across the world and will now be available in India with after sales service, said A.
Sankaranarayanan, managing director of the company.
At the launch function he said the unit has been imported from Japan and assembled at the
Company's Chennai facility. The company expects to sell at least
2,500 cars in a year.
Talking about the emission norms. Sankaranarayanan said the
Pajero's 3.2 litre engine enables it to comply with stringent
emission norms. The powerful engine offers a dominating all
terrain performance, styling, enhanced luxury, stability and state -of the-art
safety and security features.
Pajero had been launched in Mumbai and Delhi three weeks ago and already has 30 bookings according to company
officials. "so far we have delivered 19 cars it would be delivered in 90 days against full advance
payment. The car is priced Rs 34.9 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai )
As a marketing strategy, the company recently signed up with ford for supplying gearbox and engines for its
Ikon model. Another car major-General Motors-also tied up with us for the
same" he said.
