Lancer Cedia Gets The Thumbs Up For Indian Roads - January 9, 2006
Gets ARAIs Homologation Certificate Meeting Safety and Emission Norms
New Delhi, Monday, January 9, 2006: The latest offering from Hindustan Motors, the HM-Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia, has got the green signal to run on Indian roads. Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has given the Lancer Cedia a homologation certificate meeting stringent emission norms as well as safety norms as is expected with a car of such repute.

Lancer Cedia is powered by a 2-litre, 16-valve MPFI engine, making it an extremely powerful car. Power steering and multi-link independent suspension with front and rear stabilizer bar and all wheel disc brakes lend to the car excellent handling and stability. On the safety front, the Lancer Cedia is made secure with the aid of dual air bags and seatbelts with pre-tensioner and force limiter for the driver and the front passenger. The structurally rigid RISE body design meets all the regulatory requirements related to body strength.

Speaking about the certificate, Ms. Soni Shrivasatav, General Manager, Corporate Communications, GP-CK Birla Group said, Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi were confident that the Cedia will fare well in the rigorous tests it was put through. It is officially ready to make its mark in India. It not only meets the safety norms but the Bharat Stage III emission norms as well and the ARAI tests have confirmed that.

The Lancer Cedias engine is also equipped with a 32-bit processor Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for excellent performance meeting emission norms and optimum fuel economy. High torque combined with 5-speed M/T with perfect gear ratio and 15-inch tubeless tires make the car a pleasurable driving experience.

In India, Lancer Cedia will be imported as completely knocked down (CKD) units and assembled at the Hindustan Motors Chennai Car Plant in Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. This is the third model from the Hindustan Motors-Mitsubishi stable expected to be on Indian roads soon.
