HMs’ RTVs plying on Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s feeder service - April 25,
06
New Delhi, April 25, 2006: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has found a partner in Hindustan Motors’ Cosmo Range of road transport vehicles (RTVs).
RTVs are now plying on Delhi Metro’s recently introduced ‘Metro Link’ feeder services, for the convenience and comfort of its passengers. Hindustan Motors RTV is a good choice for the ‘Metro Link’ services given the ease of its manoeuvrability, an important factor for movement on Delhi roads.
With this, Metro users will find it easier to access the services, being able to comfortably board the RTV Link Service at assigned spaces. The service improves the connectivity of Metro stations to various localities. The point-to-point fare has been fixed at Rs 5/- to ensure that there is no overcharging by operators. During peak hours, the feeder services will operate from the designated starting points every 10 minutes to minimise the waiting period. The introduction of the service is aimed at providing more convenience to the Delhi Metro commuters.
Commenting on the development, Ms. Soni Shrivastav, General Manager, Corporate Communications, Hindustan Motors (a CK Birla Group company), said: “Hindustan Motors’ RTV is a comfortable and safe vehicle. Designed for easy manoeuvrability on city roads, the Cosmo RTV (CNG) will also help minimise congestion and pollution. The Transport Department’s grant of permit for the feeder service indicates that the Delhi Government approves of RTVs as a sound solution to public transport problems in Delhi.”
RTV owners have welcomed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s this decision as it gives them the opportunity to extend their service to more routes. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has already issued Letters of Intent to individual operators to ply initially on 16 designated routes to which 30 more routes shall soon be added. With an increase in the number of passengers who seek a convenient public transport system, the Metro Rail service may require more RTVs to ply on such link routes.
The feeder route RTVs can be identified easily by their uniform white colour, which make the vehicle distinctive.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will also be offering parking services to the operators of the Metro Link vehicles.
